INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The No. 1-ranked Mercyhurst College women's ice hockey team enters the National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship for the sixth-straight year, as announced by the Association in Sunday's selection show.

The Syracuse University ice hockey team won its first playoff game in program history when it defeated Niagara, 5-3, in the College Hockey America (CHA) semifinals on Friday evening at City Sports Center. The Orange was led by sophomore Lisa Mullan, who scored two goals and helped break open a tie game to defeat the Purple Eagles.
DETROIT, Mich. – The Mercyhurst College women’s hockey team will play for its eighth College Hockey America Championship after disposing of Robert Morris, 7-1, in the semifinal round of the CHA Tournament Friday afternoon at the City Sports Arena. DETROIT -- After helping Mercyhurst claim the 2009-10 College Hockey America regular season title, Laker junior forward Vicki Bendus has been selected CHA Player of the Year. Syracuse freshman forward Isabel Menard was voted CHA Rookie of the Year, while second-year Orange head coach Paul Flanagan was named CHA Coach of the Year. Wayne State senior Christine Jefferson was selected as the CHA Student-Athlete of the Year.
The No. 5 Robert Morris University Colonials captured their first CHA Tournament win on Thursday afternoon at the City Sports Center with a 3-1 victory over No. 4 Wayne State in the quarterfinals. The Colonials and the Warriors played two scoreless second and third periods, but three goals racked up by RMU in the first period propelled them to the triumph.

The No. 2 Niagara Purple Eagles open the 2010 CHA Tournament against the third-seeded Syracuse Orange in a semifinal contest on Friday, March 5 at 7 p.m. from the City Sports Center in Detroit.

On Thursday, March 4 the Colonials will take on the Wayne State Warriors in the quarterfinal round of the CHA Tournament, which will mark the third straight year these two opponents have faced off in the tournament. The winner will take on the No. 1 seed Mercyhurst on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in the first semifinal contest of the day.
