EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - Mercyhurst College women’s hockey senior forward Meghan Agosta has been named a finalist for the Women’s Sports Foundation’s 2010 Sportswoman of the Year Team Award. The team award is given to the top female athlete who demonstrated exceptional play in helping her team win a championship over a 12-month span.

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College women’s hockey team will play 32 games during the 2010-11 season, including a home-and-home series against 2010 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four opponent Cornell and a regular-season contest against perennial power Wisconsin.

CALGARY, Alberta – Three members of the Mercyhurst College women’s hockey team will take part in the 2010 Canadian National Women’s Under-22 Selection Camp, beginning on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Mastercard Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

ERIE, Pa. – Head coach Michael Sisti of the Mercyhurst College women’s hockey team announced Tuesday the addition of four newcomers to the 2010-11 women’s hockey roster.  Lauren Barnes (Eagan, Minn. / Burnsville), Christine Bestland (Brunkild, Manitoba / Pursuit of Excellence), Christie Cicero (Manalapan, N.J. / New Jersey Rockets) and Ashley Harper (Butler, Pa. / Culver Military Academy) will join 19 players returning from a team that finished 30-3-3 a season ago and three-time All-American Meghan Agosta, who returns after taking the year off to compete at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

TOWSON, Md. – Mercyhurst College women’s hockey forward Vicki Bendus has been named a First Team CoSIDA / ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, CoSIDA officials announced on Thursday. Bendus, the only junior on the Women’s At-Large University Division First Team, becomes the second Mercyhurst player to earn Academic All-America honors this week, joining Kyle King of the men’s tennis team.
