Kristen DiCiocco, Robert Morris (Junior, Goaltender, Niagara Falls, Ontario) DiCiocco was a rock wall between the pipes for Robert Morris this past as she allowed just one goal in over 118 minutes of action against conference foe Niagara. As a result, she posted a 0.51 GAA and a .972 save percentage for the week. She allowed a lone tally in Friday’s series opener and became the third netminder at RMU to surpass 1,000 career saves in the process. DiCiocco followed that effort up Saturday by notching her third shutout of the season as she blanked Niagara over 60 minutes. RMU has not allowed a power-play goal in three straight contests, and DiCiocco has been in net in each of those outings as the Colonials have killed off 17 straight man-advantage chances. DiCiocco leads the league in both goals against average and save percentage and ranks among the top 10 nationally in both categories. Katie Fergus, Robert Morris (Freshman, Foward, Oakville, Ontario) - Fergus supplied the primary assist on RMU’s game-winning goal late in the third period as the Colonials knocked off Niagara, 1-0, Saturday. After winning the puck along the corner boards, Fergus sent a creative diagonal pass across the back of the goal to a charging Colonial to set up the game’s lone score. Fergus tallied her 13th point, and eighth assist, on the play. Sarah Moses, Niagara (Goaltender, Sophomore, New Hamburg, Ontario) - Moses went 1-1-0 against Robert Morris this weekend. Moses earned her first career shutout with a 1-0 win on Friday, making all 26 saves, while stopping 30 of 31 shots in a 1-0 loss on Saturday. On the weekend, Moses stopped 56 of 57 shots for a 0.50 goals-against average and a .982 save percentage.

College Hockey America Team NotesMERCYHURST: Mercyhurst had last weekend off and will return to action for another home-and-home series with the Purple Eagles of Niagara on February 3 and 4. The teams will be in Niagara Falls on Friday, February 3 for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff and then will square off at the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Saturday, February 4, also for a 7:00 p.m. start. Saturday’s game in Erie will celebrate the 2012 National Girls and Women In Sports Day. All girls K-12 will be admitted free to the contest and there will be a ceremonial puck drop and other in-game promotions. Two weekends ago, Mercyhurst went 1-1 against the Colonials of Robert Morris in the first meetings against former assistant coach Paul Colontino, who took the head job at Robert Morris this past summer. Mercyhurst won on Friday night at Robert Morris by the score of 4-2, getting all four goals from senior Kelley Steadman in the victory. Steadman scored one goal in the first period and three in the second period to lead the Lakers. But, on Saturday in Erie, Robert Morris scored two goals in the final two-and-a-half minutes, defeating the Lakers 3-2. Steadman scored near the midway mark of the third period - her fifth goal of the weekend - putting the Lakers ahead 2-1. Sophomore Christie Cicero had the other goal for Mercyhurst on Saturday. It was the first loss against Robert Morris in the 30-game history between the two schools. Mercyhurst is now 29-1-0 lifetime against the Colonials. It was also Mercyhurst’s first conference loss since January 30, 2010 - a span of 28 games - against Niagara. Mercyhurst was 27-0-1 in its last 28 CHA games. Saturday’s loss also ended Mercyhurst’s eight-game unbeaten streak overall. It was the sixth loss in conference play dating back to the Great Lakes Women’s Hockey Association days. The Lakers are 123-6-9 lifetime in conference play. Steadman’s five goals over the weekend gave her 26 goals this season, which now ranks first nationally at 1.08 goals per game. She had three power play goals on Friday, giving her 10 on the season, and tying her with teammate Bailey Bram for most power play goals in the nation. Speaking of Bram, the senior from Ste. Anne, Manitoba was held to just two assists over the weekend. She regained the title of nation’s leading scorer, averaging 2.45 points per game. Jocelyne Lamoureux of North Dakota, who held the top spot last week, dropped to second at 2.41 per game. Bram still leads the country at 1.50 assists per game, with 33 helpers in 22 games. Bram has not scored a goal in four consecutive games, with her last goal coming against Lindenwood on December 15. Steadman, meanwhile, has at least one goal in four straight games and 11 of her last 12 games. Sophomore Christine Bestland had two assists on Friday and one more helper on Saturday, extending her scoring streak to nine straight games, easily the longest current streak on the team. Twelve of Mercyhurst’s 17 skaters this season have registered at least 10 points this season, led by Bram’s 54 points. Bestland is second with a career-high 48 points, while seniors Steadman and Jess Jones have 38 points apiece. Freshman Molly Byrne has four goals and 22 assists this season. Her 1.08 points per game is second nationally among defensemen and fifth among Division I rookies. Senior Hillary Pattenden stopped 35-of-40 shots over the weekend. On Friday, she picked up her 15th win of the season, and 95th of her career - just five shy of becoming the first goaltender to 100 career wins. Bestland is 10 points away from becoming the fourth active player with 100 career points. She has played just 59 career games. Delaney’s goal was the 51st of her career, which moved her a single score shy of tying RMU’s all-time goals record that Sara O’Malley set last season … Delaney’s difference-maker would not have occurred without a beautifully-placed pass from freshman Katie Fergus (Oakville, Ontario / Burlington Jr. Barracudas). Robert Morris has killed off 17 consecutive opposition penalties overall, which ties their longest such streak of the season … For the first time in its last 65 games, RMU was unable to net a goal as the Colonials fell to Niagara, 1-0, in the series opener Friday. RMU had faced 17 nationally-ranked teams, including six ranked No. 1, during the stretch, which began Feb. 6, 2010 against No. 1 Mercyhurst … RMU suffered the setback despite outshooting the Purple Eagles, 26-17, in the game, marking the first time the Colonials lost in their last 13 games when outshooting an opponent.
