NU Asst. Coach Siegl
Shivaun Siegl was named an assistant coach at NU.

The Niagara women's hockey team and first-year head coach Chris MacKenzie have announced the hiring of assistant coach Shivaun Siegl.

"We are excited to add a coach with Shivaun’s background and passion," MacKenzie said. "Her playing and coaching experience involves several Division I hockey programs.  Along with Josh Sciba, we have a very passionate coaching staff willing to serve our players and help bring Niagara back to national prominence."

Siegl spent last season as an assistant coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where her primary duties were working with the goaltenders, video analysis and recruiting. Prior to her one season at RPI, she worked as an assistant at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), helping the Tigers post a 19-7-0 mark and a 13-3-0 conference record.

As a student-athlete, Siegl spent two seasons between the pipes at the University of Vermont. She posted a goals-against average of 3.13 while making 551 saves. As a Catamount, Siegl was named to the Hockey East All-Scholastic Team while also earning the Barbara Bates Award for exemplifying spirit, inspiration, dedication and humility at UVM.

Prior to her stay at Vermont, Siegl was a member of three College Hockey America (CHA) championship teams at Mercyhurst College (2002-05).
