Moon Township, PA– Senior Brianna Delaney (Stittsville, Ontario), a forward on the Robert Morris University Women's ice hockey team, was one of 23 nationwide nominees for the 2012 BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hockey Humanitarian Award, award trustee Paul Sheehan announced late Wednesday evening.
Delaney has volunteered for the following organizations and causes; Ontarion March of Dimes, JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, Special Olympics, Big Brother and Big Sister Program, Mooncrest After-School Program, Steel City Icebergs, Boys and Girls Club of Pittsburgh, Learn to Play, and CHA Skate for the Cure Fundraiser.
Delaney has six goals and 13 assists for 19 points on the season.
The Hockey Humanitarian Award, currently in its 17th season of existence, is awarded annually to college hockey's finest citizen and seeks to recognize college hockey players at all levels who give back to their communities in the true humanitarian spirit. The award seeks "not to celebrate Hall of Fame athletes, but rather Hall of Fame human beings," according to the BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hockey Humanitarian Award website.
In late January, finalists will be announced, and our 2012 recipient will be recognized in a ceremony on Friday April 6th as part of the 2012 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four in Tampa, Florida.
