College Hockey America Player of the Month


Christine Bestland - Mercyhurst

Junior, Forward, Brunkild, Manitoba 

Junior captain Christine Bestland scored 24 points in ten games to start off her season.  She leads the Lakers with six goals and 18 assists.  Bestland leads the nation and CHA in assists with 18, and is third in the nation in scoring, she is averaging 2.40 points per game.  She had her season high of three assists against #10 Minnesota State on Friday, October 26, and against #5 Clarkson on Saturday, October 20.  She had her season high in points against RIT on September 29 with four points on two goals and two assists.  She has attempted 42 shots, and leads the CHA with +14 this season. Bestland for her career has 124 points, and is two goals away from reaching 50 goals in her career.

College Hockey America Goaltender of the Month


Kallie Billadeau - Syracuse

Junior, Goaltender, Minnetonka, Minn.

Kallie Billadeau recorded her third shutout this season at UConn on Saturday, 2-0. She has a GAA of 0.76 and a save percentage of .964. Billadeau ranks third in the nation in GAA (0.76) and fourth in the nation in save percentage (.964). Her three shutouts have her at second in the nation. She leads the conference in both GAA and save percentage. She has only allowed three goals in four games. All three goals came during her only loss of the season. Billadeau has recorded a shutout in three of her four starts this season. Billadeau now has five career shutouts. Her three shutouts this season ties her for first in the Orange’s record book for shutouts in one season with Lucy Schoedel (2009-10).  Her five career shutouts also ties her for first on SU’s career shutout list with Schoedel (2008-10). Billadeau’s three shutouts, combined with fellow Orange netminder Jenesica Drinkwater’s one shutout, has broken the SU record of most overall shutouts in one season with four.

College Hockey America Rookie of the Month


Emily Janiga - Mercyhurst

Freshman, Forward, East Aurora, N.Y.  

Freshman Emily Janiga is second in points behind junior Christine Bestland.  Janiga has 18 points on nine goals and nine assists in 10 games.  She has attempted 30 shots and has a .300 conversion rate.  Janiga sits fifth in the nation in scoring, averaging 1.80 points per game.  In nine goals, Janiga has four power-play goals (tied for first in the nation) and two game-winning goals.  Janiga is +9 this season.  She recorded her first hat trick of her college career against RIT on Saturday, September 29.  She matched her career-high of five points on Saturday, September 29 against RIT and on Saturday, October 13 against Providence College.  She scored five points against #10 Minnesota State scoring a three goals and two assists during the weekend sweep.
